Stem & The Dead Smokers: “Keep Livin’ (You Gotta Try)” Marks a Bold Return

Southern California’s hard rock powerhouse, Stem & The Dead Smokers, is back with a fiery new single, “Keep Livin’ (You Gotta Try).” Released on October 11, 2024, through Uhs Records, this track serves as the lead single for their upcoming second album, A Dangerous Age, slated for a summer 2025 release.

Founded by vocalist and songwriter Stem (Jeff Karr), the band emerged from the Inland Empire in 2017, transforming Stem’s solo “stoner rap” career into a full-fledged hard rock venture. Their debut EP, The Hardest Times, was met with acclaim and cemented their reputation as a band capable of straddling genres without losing their edge. Their 2021 album, Overworked & Underpaid, featuring hits like “I’m Never Ever Gonna (Let You Go)” and “You Better Hold It Right There!”, proved their staying power with audiences old and new.

“Keep Livin’ (You Gotta Try)” captures the essence of resilience and determination—a fitting anthem for both the band and their fans. Written, produced, and recorded by Stem at Uhs Records’ studio, The Bottom of the Bag, the single is accompanied by a compelling music video. Directed, edited, and produced by Stem, the video adds a visual punch to the track’s gritty message and can be found on the Uhs Records official YouTube channel.

The single has already garnered attention, with radio play on Phoenix 98 FM’s Rising Stars Show and a spotlight on The Toby Gribble Show. This strong reception sets the stage for A Dangerous Age, promising to deliver more of the high-octane rock Stem & The Dead Smokers are known for.

Stream “Keep Livin’ (You Gotta Try)” today and join the movement as the band embarks on its next chapter of musical evolution.
